*** SEASON TICKET RAFFLE ***

Postby St Albans Bianconeri on Mon May 17, 2010 10:25 am

Good news so far with the sponsorship deal and (hopefully) the squad sticking together. Every little helps though and I want to go back to something Parso raised recently. I don't normally get a season ticket as I do miss all the midweek games, however, this season I'll get one. I wonder if other exiles, even those who get to the Meres far less often might consider doing the same? It's all money up front and it all helps.

Gah, stealing my thunder and all that......

I think season tickets last year were about £140, so if we could get ten exiles to buy a season ticket in pre-season, c. £1400 would be a great early boost to the coffers. So, who else is with us??

Though I'm not really an exile (on the doorstep compared to you guys!) I too sometimes struggle with midweek games due to work commitments, hence paying at the gate....however count me in....7 more volunteers needed.

Having said that will they actually be on sale early???

No reason we can't have them on-sale for a pre-season kit night and manager forum evening in late July ??

After the first couple of games, but before the proper stuff starts (I don't consider the County Doorstop Challenge the real thing)

Steve Boam has seen this thread and thanks you all for the encouraging comments and asked if I could post a thank you on his behalf and he'd like to assure everyone that everyone is determined to work hard to keep the momentum going.

So, yes season tickets are now on sale!

Cost will be as last season that is £144 adults and £108 concessions and covers league games only

If you want one then please ring Pat Nixon on 01476 419391, and as ever we'll be selling at all the preseason matches/meetings

Cheers Si,

£1,440 would be an excellent target to reach. Four down, six to go.....

I have just heard from USA based Gingerbread fan Tony Lawson. He rarely gets home and sees maybe a couple of home games a season.

Tony has read this thread and generously offered to buy an "exile Season ticket". As he won't be able to make use of it himself, he has offered to pass it on to raise funds for the Club. A raffle or some kind of auction could be used.

Anyone got any ideas how to raise the most cash?

How much would you be prepared to pay for a chance to win this ticket?

Thanks Tony. Hope to see you some time next season.

What a great gesture and idea, thanks Tony.

Let me give it some thought about fund raising idea to win or earn the ticket.

A great gesture Tony, although it does scupper my idea of getting the exiles together for one home game next season!

Five down, five to go.....

Why don't the club raffle a few more off at say £10 each in batches of 25 after all it's not lost revenue and £250 each time up front for the club. They could probably sell 100 raffle tickets before the season starts.

£10 FOR A 1 IN 25 CHANCE OF WINNING A TICKET WITH A VALUE OF £144 IS PRETTY GOOD ODDS

Another £1,000 in the coffers - UP FRONT

If you do not win then everyone who took part should get free or reduced admission by 50% to one home game of their choice. It will cost the club more, however more people into the ground means more money will be spent on programmes, raffles, beer, food etc.

"Cost" of competition to GTFC based on above idea:

4 season tickets £576 + 96 runners up at say £4 voucher £384. Total outlay £960 to receive £1000.

But actually it hasn't cost a penny apart from printing of tickets.

Also those 96 runners up might be new supporters and could return time and time again.

I'm sure the club have taken it on board, I too felt it wasn't a bad idea, I think the more season tickets that goto non-regular supporters the better, any that get used later in the season would hopefully make the crowds bigger and create an atmosphere.

My only problem is how do you placate those supporters who buy one, I see my season ticket not as a fund raiser for the club (as they would be better off if I didn't buy one, as I attend every game) but more of a convenience of not having to have £8 left by the time I reach the ground on a matchday.

The club have to be careful how they balance the trade off between attracting new and former supporters back, without upsetting existing. I would like to think we could go on a similar run to the one we are currently in, then perhaps make it reduced admission (like £1 for a home game, just to see if the people of Grantham will come and watch a winning team)

You will recall that Tony Lawson an exile in the USA said he would buy a season ticket and offer it for fundraising- well he has been true to his word. How about now running a raffle for it. If we could get 29 lots of £5 we would cover the cost?

So the notion is that you put your name on here like the world cup draw- £5 entry to win a season ticket worth £144 ish. You can of course have more than one go but it will cost £5 for each entry. Draw will be made after I have the dosh off all buyers.

Let me know what you think. I am away from 10 - 20 July so will check how its going while I am away and when I return hopefully we can proceed. :D
