I think its safe to say we'll take more than the fabled 29 that Gainsborough mustered on Boxing Day a few seasons ago!

Looks like someone accidently pulled out the lead - now listening to Florence and the Machine being streamed instead. Just as we had a freekick in a dangerous place too

.......given our player availability (see official site) this is not really a big surprise, especially against a team 2 leagues higher. If the mighty B*ston were to be outplayed I think there would be a "stewards enquiry".

Final score 4-0........... 500 plus in attendance bit of a run in the park for the Pilgrims according to their people,
I dare say GTFC will read a little differently but I anticipate a little more work to be done with the squad before
the League begins.......... see you all soon..........

On tonights showing at least 3-4 players missing, two of which are obvious with Ali and Gary, thought we looked more lively up front once Matson came on. A month two early for the same players that struggled for fitness for thw whole of last season I'm afraid.

Very few Grantham fans bothered to watch the gloried pre-season friendly, but it shows that b*ston have improved over the summer or we haven't ?!? (I think it's a bit of both, not helped by the big misses of above), but if we are to improve on last season, surely that means improving on the current squad, I don't think we have YET.

Have to agree in that Ali and Gary were a big miss at the heart of defence although Billy and Sam losing easy possesion lead to goals two and three which could have been easily avoided. I thought Periscoe had another good game and the left back also shows promise and I also liked the look of Matson when he came on as he looked lively and pacy so along with Glass could prove to be a good forward line.

Was quite impressed with b*ston too who two leagues above are going to be much stronger/fitter but they looked like a good footballing side, strong at the back and used width well and well as having pace and strength up front so I would expect them to do well this season.

Funny thing the County Cup, if you do well, great, if not, no bother. Bit annoying that we had a competitive game so early in pre-season, and obviously not at full strength, but that's just one of those things.

All that said Parso even with a full strength team and a bit later in the season I still think the result would be the same albeit not 4 nil as there was an evident gulf in class but suppose that is what we need to aspire to to move up the pyramid.
